Class Size: ? This is an opportunity to draw using a variety of subjects such as the human figure, landscapes and still life. We will participate in a variety of drawing exercises to improve our sense of proportion, composition, use of line and tone. You can use the media of your own choice but medias that can be used as line or blended to a tone or gradation is recommended.

4th Qtr 2019 Live Painting in Oil Paint (Session 2)

Painting from Life: This class for those familiar with the basics of painting in oils who wish to learn traditional and contemporary approaches to painting from a live subject. The class will often meet off site to paint both the landscape as well as live models. Please consider your ability to walk over uneven surfaces as well as transporting equipment to the site you are painting at before registering for this class. Note: if the first week of a five week session is missed participant “will be removed from the class roster.”

There is a strong focus on art history and the variety of styles and approaches to creating a painting through both traditional and more contemporary methods. 4th Qtr 2019 Beginning Oil Painting

We will cover the fundamentals of oil painting such as color, composition and values as well as the use of tools such as Palette Knives, Brushes and Mediums to create glazes and translucent passages of color. This is a studio class designed for those who are not able to participate in the Painting from Life classes. Bring a sketch book and pen to each class as well as 3 canvases not to exceed 12 x 16 inches. All other materials will be provided.

3rd Qtr 2019 Creativity Demo, Work Process (8/9)

This is a one day workshop and demo to take you through the process of developing an idea into an image that is uniquely yours and well designed. We will work with a mixed media approach in creating black and white studies (thumbnails) as well as color studies. Experimentation and fun are the goals of this class! So if you’ve been looking for something to get you out of your box, this is the class for you!

3rd Qtr 2019 Life Painting with Acrylic (8/7)

This one day workshop is for those who want to better understand the basics of painting with Acrylics. The use of the media and additives to create different effects will be covered, as well as the basics of color and composition. This is a prerequisite to taking the Acrylic and Mixed Media Class.

3rd Qtr 2019 Art Reality to Abstraction (Session 2)

Abstraction: Drawing, Painting and 3D

This class will explore the process of abstracting a live subject in a variety of media and approaches. We will also learn the historical context and how the idea of abstraction took hold of the art world during the 20th century. Students will need a sketch book, pen and cell phone or camera for this class.
